The Private Rooms door in Hellraiser Revival is a mandatory progression puzzle during the Hunt Marlowe objective. It waits at the far end of the club foyer, close to the separate Voyeur Room puzzle, but interacting with it immediately will not be enough to proceed. The lock has a missing component: an embossed block that must be collected after Aiden Lynch receives the Hell Chains ability.
This guide covers both parts cleanly: the route to the block and the visual order required after it is placed in the door. The puzzle’s imagery is sexually explicit in theme, but its actual mechanical logic is straightforward. It is a four-panel rotation lock, and the nearby environmental decoration supplies the combination.
Private Rooms door puzzle requirements
You cannot finish the Private Rooms lock the first time you encounter it. Progress through the story until Aiden has exited the labyrinth and unlocked Hell Chains. After returning to the club and dealing with cultists using the new ability, the previously missing embossed block becomes reachable.
This is an important distinction if the red double doors appear to be a dead end. The puzzle is story-critical, so it is not an optional collectible or a side activity that can be permanently missed. The door is intended to pause progress until the relevant story sequence has been completed.
Where to find the embossed block
- After leaving the labyrinth with Hell Chains available, look toward the room’s double gold doors.
- Do not go through those gold doors immediately. Instead, use the door to their left.
- Enter the bloodied hallway and take the second door on the left.
- Inside, find the ear-shaped statue resting on a white dresser.
- Inspect the statue, remove its pins, and collect the embossed block.
The item is not hidden behind a separate code or combat requirement. The key point is taking the side route before returning to the foyer. If you have entered the hallway but are unsure whether you are in the correct room, look for the white dresser and the ear statue; that is the interaction that produces the needed lock piece.
How to install the block in the Private Rooms door
With the embossed block in hand, backtrack out of the hallway. Go through the double gold doors, head down the stairs, and return to the foyer’s red double doors. Interact with the Private Rooms lock and select the embossed block from the available interaction prompt to fit it into place.
The completed device contains four rotatable embossed panels. Each panel can show more than one image when turned. That makes this a rotation puzzle: solving it is not about moving blocks between slots, but about setting each individual block to the correct face and arranging the displayed sequence correctly from left to right.
If the general format seems familiar, the game uses a related rotating-block concept in the earlier labyrinth challenge. For help with that separate sequence, see the Hellraiser Revival Well Puzzle Guide: Find Every Block and Set the Labyrinth Images.
Private Rooms door solution
Do not try to infer the order solely from the lock’s artwork. The clue is placed in the room around the door.
- Exit the lock interface.
- Take a few steps back from the Private Rooms entrance and look upward.
- On the left side of the door, two large banners show the first and second required images.
- On the right side, two more banners show the third and fourth images.
Rotate the four blocks until their displayed images match the banners in this left-to-right order:
- First block: upside down
- Second block: knee up
- Third block: leg up
- Fourth block: tied up
In shorthand, the sequence is:
Upside down → knee up → leg up → tied up
The labels above are practical descriptions of the banner scenes rather than official in-game names. What matters is matching each panel’s visible image to the corresponding wall banner, beginning with the two banners to the left of the entrance and continuing to the pair on the right.
What happens after entering the correct order
The lock opens automatically once all four faces are correct. There is no extra confirmation action, separate button sequence, or additional item to use after the panel order has been set. The opened red doors lead into the cultist club’s private play area and allow the Hunt Marlowe objective to continue.
Common reasons the puzzle appears unsolved
The lock is missing a block
If there are not four usable panels in the mechanism, the embossed block has not yet been installed. Return to the Hell Chains-era club route, take the left-hand door beside the gold double doors, and inspect the ear statue in the second room on the left.
The banners were checked from the wrong position
The environmental clue is easiest to read after leaving the lock view and stepping back. The solution follows the banners around the doorway from left to right, not an arbitrary order based on the blocks’ starting appearances.
The right images are present in the wrong sequence
Because each panel rotates independently, it is possible to find all four needed images but leave them out of order. Check each slot from left to right against the full sequence: upside down, knee up, leg up, tied up.
Trying to solve it before Hell Chains
The door is encountered before it can be completed. Hell Chains is the story-gated requirement that leads to the room containing the missing embossed block. If the side route or item interaction is not available, continue the main path until that ability has been obtained.
Why the solution works
The Private Rooms puzzle uses environmental storytelling as its code system. Rather than presenting numbered symbols, a written combination, or a conventional key, it asks players to compare the lock’s embossed scenes with large decorative banners placed immediately beside the door. The two banner groups establish both the correct images and their reading order.
That placement also explains why the lock can feel more complicated than it is at first glance. Examining the mechanism closely reveals the rotating images but not necessarily the rule for selecting them. Pulling away from the interface reveals the intended reference point. In practical terms, when a block puzzle in Hellraiser Revival has several plausible faces, it is worth looking around the immediate space for visual motifs that repeat the puzzle’s symbols.
For this one, the complete route is simple once the two stages are separated: obtain Hell Chains, collect the embossed block from the ear statue, insert it at the red doors, then reproduce the four banner images from left to right. The doors should open as soon as that final order is in place.
