Cookie Policy

Joking Joystick uses browser storage for necessary site functions and to remember choices. Optional third-party analytics and paid advertising scripts are disabled at launch.

What is used

• First-party session: the jj_session cookie connects your browser with the server session used for sign-in and form security. It is set as a session cookie rather than a persistent advertising identifier.
• Saved choices: browser storage may remember your consent choice and interface preferences so the site can respect them on later visits from that browser.
• Security checks: Google reCAPTCHA is used in protected form flows when you enable the check. Google documents that its service sets the _GRECAPTCHA cookie when executed for risk analysis.
• Optional services: any configured optional analytics or advertising scripts require the corresponding opt-in through the site’s controls.

How to change choices

Use Cookie settings to reopen the site’s consent choices. You can also delete stored site data through your browser. Clearing browser data may sign you out and require the site to ask for choices again. Blocking necessary cookies can prevent sign-in or protected forms from working.

Changing optional consent stops future optional loading under the site controls; it does not itself erase information already received by an external provider. Browser settings and the provider’s own controls may offer additional options.

First-party readership counts

Article counts use a server-derived daily identifier to limit repeated views. This count does not require an optional advertising cookie, and we do not describe it as fully anonymous. The privacy policy explains the information involved.

Changes and questions

If analytics or ad providers are added, this policy should be updated to identify the enabled services and their relevant storage practices. Send questions through the contact form.
