007 First Light now has a New Game Plus option through its first free DLC, but players should set expectations before diving back into James Bond’s missions. This is not a conventional NG+ mode built around retaining a full inventory, late-game weapons, or unlocked gadgets. Its current purpose is far narrower: it lets a player who has completed the game replay individual chapters while wearing an outfit of their own choosing.

That still gives returning players a reason to revisit missions, particularly if they want a different visual presentation for a replay or would like to tackle the game’s newly available higher difficulty setting. But Bond will not enter an early mission carrying gear that, in the story’s normal progression, is acquired later. A Missile Pen, spy car, weapons, abilities, and other mission equipment remain tied to the chapter and its intended setup.

How to start New Game Plus in 007 First Light

New Game Plus becomes relevant after completing the game. To begin a replay:

  1. Open the main menu.
  2. Go to Customisation.
  3. Equip the 007 First Light Outfit you want Bond to wear.
  4. Open Select Chapter.
  5. Reload any mission.

When that chapter loads, Bond will wear the outfit selected in Customisation rather than the standard outfit normally assigned to that mission. In other words, chapter selection is the entry point for this version of New Game Plus; there is no separate new campaign file described for the mode.

What carries over

At present, the carry-over list is extremely short:

  • Your equipped outfit choice.

This means the mode is chiefly a wardrobe option for completed-game players. It changes Bond’s appearance in replayed missions, but it does not change the designed loadout, story order, or unlock structure of those chapters.

The distinction matters because “New Game Plus” often means a replay mode that imports character progress from a completed save. Here, it should be read more literally as a way to replay content with one selected cosmetic element preserved: the outfit.

What does not carry over

Players should not expect their later unlocks to be usable earlier than usual. The current implementation does not transfer:

  • Gadgets from other points in the game
  • Weapons from other missions
  • Abilities or equipment unlocks
  • The spy car before the point at which the story provides it

Practical result: replaying the tutorial will not let Bond arrive with a Missile Pen, and replaying an earlier chapter will not allow access to tools that the narrative has not yet introduced. The replay still follows the mission’s original equipment rules.

Why the restrictions are important

In mission-based games, equipment can serve more than one role. It may be a mechanical tool, but it can also be part of the mission’s structure: an objective may assume the player lacks a particular device, while a later sequence may be designed around finally receiving it. Keeping those items restricted preserves the intended conditions of each chapter.

For players, though, it also means this New Game Plus option will not satisfy the usual power-replay fantasy. There is no indication that it enables an all-gadgets run, unusual early-game vehicle access, or a chance to combine tools from separate portions of the adventure. Anyone returning specifically to overpower earlier missions with a fully developed Bond will find that the current feature is not built for that.

The upside is clarity. The chapter itself dictates the gameplay resources available, while Customisation dictates the look. Players can choose their clothing without having to worry that a replay changes the balance or sequence of mission-specific equipment.

The new 00 difficulty offers the larger replay challenge

The same update adds a higher difficulty option called 00. The available details do not specify exactly how 00 changes enemies, detection, resources, objectives, or other systems, so players should avoid assuming a particular ruleset. What is clear is that it provides an additional challenge setting for those revisiting the game.

That may be the more meaningful replay addition for players who want a fresh mechanical test. The outfit carry-over is cosmetic, whereas a higher difficulty can change the stakes of approaching familiar missions even when the available equipment remains chapter-specific.

There are also expansions to 007 First Light’s Tacsim and other features in the update, though the available information does not detail their contents. For now, the confirmed replay-focused pieces are the chapter-based outfit option and the 00 difficulty setting.

Who should use this version of NG+?

This mode is best suited to three kinds of returning player:

  • Outfit-focused players who want Bond to wear a preferred look in chapters where the default costume would normally be mandatory.
  • Challenge-focused players planning to revisit completed missions on 00 difficulty.
  • Completion-minded players who want quick access to individual chapters rather than restarting the whole adventure solely to revisit a favorite sequence.

It is less useful for players seeking gameplay progression carry-over. If your planned replay depends on a particular later-game tool, weapon, or vehicle appearing in an earlier assignment, the game does not currently support that scenario.

Could 007 First Light expand New Game Plus later?

There is no confirmed plan for a broader version of the feature. Still, the limited scope leaves room for potential future changes if the mode is expanded. At launch, however, it is safest to treat the system exactly as it works now: select an outfit in Customisation, load a completed-game chapter through Select Chapter, and replay that mission under its normal gear restrictions.

Replay systems can take many forms. Some are about retaining power; others are about revisiting specific content under new conditions. For another example of a game feature designed to make revisiting its world matter, see WoW: Forever’s Night Watchman’s Torch and its effect on Azeroth travel. In 007 First Light, the current approach is much more contained: a player-directed outfit, mission-by-mission access, and an optional harder setting.
