Core update targets broader game compatibility
Bachata S4+ version 0.2.7 updates its underlying Bachata S4 core to version 0.2.4. The release notes report broader compatibility across many games, with specific improvements for Killzone Shadow Fall and Shadow of the Colossus.
The build was published on October 23, 2026, as an Android APK. Bachata S4+ is an experimental PlayStation 4 emulation project focused on ARM64 Android devices, so results can vary with the device, graphics driver, game version, emulator settings and selected execution backend. The compatibility changes are project-reported improvements, not a guarantee of full playability for every title.
System-module imports are available in Settings
Version 0.2.7 adds system-module importing from SPRX files and ZIP archives through the emulator’s Settings interface. This gives users two documented file formats for providing system modules to the application.
The release notes do not specify which modules are required, how they should be prepared or whether particular games need them. Bachata S4+ does not distribute console firmware, system files or decryption keys.
More resolution and performance patches
The update expands the project’s resolution and performance patches. It also adds support for more regional versions of The Last of Us Remastered, extending the title-specific compatibility work to additional editions.
The release notes do not identify the newly supported regions or provide performance measurements. Results may differ between devices and between the project’s FEX and experimental Box64 execution backends.
Automatic per-game graphics settings
Bachata S4+ 0.2.7 adds automatic per-game settings for Readback and Linear Images. These settings are now part of the release’s title-specific configuration changes rather than being presented only as broad, one-size-fits-all options.
The release notes do not identify which games receive the automatic settings or specify the values selected for each title.
Controller switching receives an update
The update improves controller handling when switching between gameplay and menus. This targets transitions between active game input and navigation through the emulator interface.
Bachata S4+ supports physical controllers and touch controls, but the release notes do not list specific affected controllers or previously failing games.
What Bachata S4+ is
Bachata S4+ is an independent community project focused on experimental PlayStation 4 emulation for ARM64 Android devices. It began from Android binary releases of Bachata S4 and includes independent work on compatibility, controller support, Android interface behavior, graphics handling and execution through FEX. Box64 integration is described by the project as experimental.
The project is not an official Bachata S4 release and is not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment. Its documentation warns that games may boot, reach gameplay with problems, freeze, crash, render incorrectly or require specific settings without being fully playable from start to finish.
