A targeted Ratchet & Clank fix
Bachata S4+ version 0.1.2 is available as an Android APK, with the release dated September 14, 2026. The release notes say the update fixes random crashes in Ratchet & Clank 2016, allowing the game to reach gameplay without those crashes.
This is a focused, game-specific change rather than a broad compatibility overhaul. The release notes do not document additional title fixes, performance figures, controller changes or general emulator improvements in this version. The published APK is named Bachata-S4-Plus-v0.1.2.apk.
Enable Readback Linear Images
Ratchet & Clank 2016 requires Readback Linear Images to be enabled in the emulator’s GPU settings for the fix to work. Users testing this title should treat that setting as part of the documented configuration.
The release notes do not explain how the option affects rendering or whether it benefits other games. They identify it specifically as a requirement for Ratchet & Clank 2016 in this build.
An independent PS4 project for Android
Bachata S4+ is an independent community project focused on experimental PlayStation 4 emulation for ARM64 Android devices. It is not an official Bachata S4 release and is not maintained or endorsed by the original Bachata S4 developers. The project originated from Android binary releases associated with Bachata S4 and includes independent compatibility research, Android UI work, controller support and game-specific changes.
Its execution work includes FEX, an x86 and x86-64 userspace layer for ARM64 systems, alongside experimental Box64 integration for x86-64 execution on ARM64. The project also lists Vulkan compatibility, GPU synchronization, memory behavior and per-game configuration among its broader research areas. These details provide context for the emulator, but they are not additional changes claimed for version 0.1.2.
Expect device-dependent results
Reaching gameplay does not establish that Ratchet & Clank 2016 is fully playable from beginning to end. The project identifies possible differences involving crashes, rendering, audio, input and performance, and says results can vary with the Android device, system-on-chip, GPU, graphics drivers, Android version, RAM, thermal limits, game version, emulator settings and selected execution backend.
FEX and Box64 may also behave differently from one another, while experimental PS4 emulation remains sensitive to configuration. A result on one ARM64 Android device may therefore not transfer directly to another. The 0.1.2 notes document this specific crash fix and its required GPU setting, but provide no universal compatibility or performance guarantee.
