Demon’s Souls online play needs no redirects

ARMSX3 1.0.5 adds out-of-the-box online connectivity for Demon’s Souls through The Archstones community server. The emulator can connect without users configuring redirects first, reducing the setup required for this supported online service.

ARMSX3 is an Android emulator based on RPCS3 for PlayStation 3 software. Its Android packages target compatible ARM devices rather than running on the emulated console itself. The project documentation says that running ARMSX3 requires PlayStation 3 firmware, which is not included.

Game-specific fixes restore audio and startup progress

Stuntman: Ignition now works with the required audio change restored. The update also retains the ability for Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition to get past the Warner Bros. logo while including the same audio-related change needed by Stuntman: Ignition.

The release incorporates 38 changes from upstream RPCS3. Among the listed updates are a fix for slow audio in some games, video playback corrections, graphics and memory-handling fixes, file-access improvements, an inFAMOUS 2 trophy overlay fix, and changes to shader processing and the RSX command pipeline.

Other upstream work covers video frames being lost at the end of playback, directory listings, EDAT handling, disc-game permissions for app_home, EyeToy and PlayStation Eye microphone support, PlayStation Move camera buffers, and additional memory and crash-dump fixes. These changes extend the update beyond the game-specific fixes highlighted in the release notes.

Save-state failures are less disruptive

The update fixes a rare crash that could occur after a save state reloaded the game and the user then closed that reloaded session. The issue was encountered with Bomberman Ultra, but the correction applies to save-state handling rather than only to that game.

A failed save state can no longer leave the game paused after the menu closes. Previously, that failure could make the game appear frozen; the game now continues instead.

Error messages also provide more useful guidance. Rather than suggesting ASMJIT, which ARM devices cannot use, ARMSX3 now explains the reason for the failure and what to do next. For games that cannot use emulator save states, such as Guitar Hero World Tour, the message points users toward the game’s own save system.

Trial licences and library status update correctly

The library now marks trial versions with a TRIAL tag until they are unlocked, including trials that do not store their demo in a separate folder. Installing a trial unlock key from the game’s lock button now works, and a full-game licence installed for a trial is handled correctly under the trial’s name rather than causing the library to misclassify the entry. A wrong key selected from the lock button also no longer removes a key the game already has.

The library refreshes automatically after installing a game, key or full-game unlock. Users no longer need to refresh it manually to see the new state.

Restoring a backup now places data in the folder ARMSX3 uses, addressing cases where restored saves appeared to be missing because they had been placed in a different data directory.

Firmware library controls move into core settings

Firmware library selection is now available in All Core Settings. Users can switch any firmware library between LLE and HLE for one game or apply the choice to all games, depending on the desired configuration.

A per-game firmware-library override no longer carries over into the next game that is launched. This prevents a setting intended for one title from unexpectedly affecting another title.

Android packages and project background

ARMSX3 1.0.5 was published on September 27, 2026, under the exact release tag 1.0.5. The release provides Android APK variants for armv8.2 devices using SDK levels 30, 33 and 35, plus a legacy armv8.1 package using SDK level 30. The four supplied files range from 85,345,464 to 85,650,244 bytes.

The project uses recent upstream RPCS3 code, including ARM64 improvements, and is distributed under GPL-2.0-only, although individual files may use different licences. The documentation identifies arm64-v8a and armv8.2 as supported build targets. Its build instructions apply to developers compiling the project from source; they are separate from using the supplied APKs.

The release notes also say that a build was sent to closed Google Play testers, with a public Google Play launch expected the following day. The supplied release information separately identifies the available 1.0.5 Android APK variants.
