Animal Hospital emerged as the defining winner of the 2026 Roblox Innovation Awards, taking four of the ceremony’s biggest honors: Best Innovation in Creative Direction, Best New Game, People’s Choice, and the Builderman Award. The results were revealed in San Jose at the close of the 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference, putting a creepy, anomaly-filled veterinary night shift at the center of a showcase designed to celebrate the platform’s unusually wide range of games and creator tools.
The awards cover developers, studios, individual creators, artists, and technical projects across 20 categories. This year’s outcomes were calculated from 319 million votes, an enormous tally that underscores both the scale of the participating community and the importance of popular response alongside developer-facing recognition. Justin Sousa, Roblox’s head of developer community and a familiar figure to many players as JParty, hosted the event.
Animal Hospital’s success was not simply a single-category win driven by a striking premise. Its four awards span design identity, new-game momentum, direct community support, and the event’s final Builderman honor. That spread makes the game the clearest shorthand for this year’s results: Roblox experiences can be unnerving, focused, and strange without losing the broad appeal needed to attract a major voting audience.
Why Animal Hospital stood out
Developed by Animal Anomaly, Animal Hospital frames its central scenario around a veterinary hospital night shift that turns increasingly abnormal. Players treat patients, identify anomalies, and attempt to make it to morning. The concept pairs routine work with a creeping survival-horror tension, rather than leaning exclusively on combat or a familiar licensed universe.
Its Creative Direction award recognizes the strength of that full presentation: the unsettling hospital environment, the unusual patients, and the immediate sense that something is deeply off. Best New Game acknowledges its arrival as a recent standout, while People’s Choice confirms that the premise connected with voters. The Builderman Award then supplied the ceremony’s final punctuation mark.
That four-award sweep is particularly notable because the remaining winners show how fragmented Roblox’s creative landscape can be. There are competitive shooters, social and casual games, sports titles, word puzzles, survival adventures, avatar fashion, creator software, and established classics in the same winners list. Animal Hospital did not win because it represents the only successful model; it won in a year that made room for many very different models.
RIVALS and Nosniy Games collect key shooter honors
RIVALS, from Nosniy Games, won Best Shooter. The game is built around competitive first-person encounters ranging from one-versus-one duels to five-versus-five matches. It represents a more traditional competitive multiplayer direction than Animal Hospital’s anxious workplace horror, and it also helps illustrate why the awards had separate categories for genre and technical experimentation.
Nosniy Games additionally received Best Studio. The studio’s catalog includes Treasure Quest and Super Golf alongside RIVALS, giving the recognition a wider context than a single shooter win. Its awards point to the value of a studio identity built across multiple projects while still delivering a game polished enough to take a major category.

Roblox’s shooter space received another nod through TTK by Sable Digital, which won Best Innovation in Tech. TTK emphasizes tactical, squad-based combat and features such as helmet cameras and optics, making its recognition more about the technological and presentation ambitions of the experience than a straightforward genre trophy. Horror, survival, and audio remain powerful tools
The awards also highlighted how heavily atmosphere can matter. DOORS, made by LSPLASH, won Best Use of Audio. In a horror game, sound can communicate danger, shape anticipation, and help players understand threats before they see them. The category gives formal recognition to an element that players often notice only when it is either excellent or absent.
99 Nights in the Forest from Grandma’s Favourite Games won Best Survival Game. Its structure asks players to establish a camp, collect resources, rescue missing children, and endure a threat stalking the forest across 99 nights. It has a party-game edge within that survival framework, which distinguishes it from a solitary endurance experience and aligns with Roblox’s social strengths.
Animal Hospital, DOORS, and 99 Nights in the Forest are different projects, but their awards collectively suggest that unsettling spaces have become a versatile creative lane. A scary idea can rely on audio, resource management, anomaly spotting, or a carefully designed setting. Horror is not one template here; it is a mood that can be adapted to different play loops.

Tools, avatar work, and branded design earn recognition too
The Best Plugin honor went to UGC Makers Toolbox by Onogork. Its purpose is to make the creation of user-generated content easier, a reminder that the games players encounter are supported by an ecosystem of creators making assets and workflow tools. Awards for this type of project can be easy to overlook beside high-profile game categories, but they speak to a foundational part of a creator-driven platform: people building resources for other people to build with.
Valkenheim won Best UGC Creator, with recognition centered on a distinctive style of avatar work. That result places personal expression alongside conventional game development. Meanwhile, Do Big’s Steal a Brainrot x GOAT collaboration with Sony Pictures earned Best Innovation in a Branded Game, honoring a partnership that was designed to feel integrated with the underlying experience rather than merely attached to it.
Those selections matter because they broaden the definition of innovation. It can be a tactical system, but it can also be an effective creator tool, an avatar aesthetic, or a branded crossover whose design understands the community it is entering.
From word chains to open-world RPGs
Several winners show the appeal of sharply defined gameplay hooks. Table Game X’s Finish The Word, the Best Puzzle Game recipient, turns a continuing word chain into a quick-thinking contest where running out of answers is the key danger. SecretVerse Studio’s +1 Speed Keyboard Escape, named Best Party & Casual Game, aims for accessible, fast-paced chaos.
At the other end of the scope spectrum, M&M Community’s Mini War won Best Strategy Game. Players begin with a small country, develop its economy, raise an army, and choose between diplomacy and conquest. Piggy: Intercity, winner of Best RPG, takes Piggy into an open-world direction with exploration, character interactions, base building, and decisions that influence a journey through an infected world.
Natural Disaster Survival by Stickmasterluke won Best Classic Game, recognizing the durability of a simple but enduring premise: survive floods, meteors, and other catastrophes. Tze’s Shenanigans received Best Action Game for Jujutsu Shenanigans, while Play! Football’s FIFA Super Soccer claimed Best Sports Game. Laughability was named Best Video Star for YouTube work tied to Roblox’s creator culture.
The Hunt: Roblox 20 begins September 17
The awards ceremony also served as the setting for a major anniversary reminder. Roblox is preparing The Hunt: Roblox 20, an event intended to mark the platform’s 20th anniversary. It is scheduled to begin on September 17, following the developer conference and the Innovation Awards.
With Animal Hospital’s multiple wins, the 2026 ceremony captures a moment where a new horror-tinged game can take center stage while established experiences, creators, plugins, branded projects, and genre specialists all receive space. The coming anniversary event now follows an awards slate that is less about crowning one universal Roblox formula than showing how many different ones are attracting players and builders.
