What’s Shadow of the Road about?
Shadow of the Road is a story-driven tactical role-playing game set in an alternate vision of feudal Japan, where magic and machinery exist side by side. The setting brings together traditional imperial conflict, supernatural yōkai, and steampunk technology, creating a world where familiar historical influences meet fantastical threats. The story follows a group whose choices can affect the fate of the Empire.
Players assemble a team from a varied cast of characters and direct them through turn-based battles. Careful positioning, squad composition, and tactical decision-making are key to facing both supernatural opponents and mechanical contraptions. Outside combat, the game emphasizes an unfolding narrative and the freedom to shape a personal route through its conflicts.
