What’s Casualties: Unknown about?
Casualties: Unknown is a single-player cave-exploration survival simulator with a bleak science-fiction premise. You play as one of countless engineered human-animal subjects controlled by a powerful company. When an important piece of technology is accidentally sent into the cave system of a distant, life-filled planet, the company chooses its expendable test subjects to recover it rather than risk its own personnel.
The adventure takes place across five underground layers, each presenting hostile environments and the constant pressure of staying alive. Exploration is not a heroic expedition but a forced assignment, with the player treated as disposable cargo in a dangerous experiment. The surrounding caves contain the consequences of the company’s failed transport operation, while the broader story reveals a society that has created and exploited artificial life for its own ambitions. Survival therefore sits alongside a grim examination of captivity, experimentation and corporate indifference.
