HDR10 output is now converted to SDR
KytyPS5-2026-10-31-0261891 adds a graphics change that converts HDR10 video-out output to standard dynamic range (SDR). This is intended to provide SDR output when the emulator handles HDR10 video.
The build was published on October 31, 2026. Two earlier builds are included in the consolidated update: KytyPS5-2026-10-30-4919fdb, published on October 30, and KytyPS5-2026-10-31-abd77f5, published on October 31. Their release notes do not list specific changes, so the HDR10-to-SDR conversion is the only documented feature change in this update.
Available builds and project status
The release provides archives for Linux x86-64 and macOS x86-64. The macOS build targets x86-64 and runs on Apple Silicon through Rosetta 2, with Vulkan provided by MoltenVK. Windows is a primary KytyPS5 target, but no Windows archive is listed among this release's supplied assets.
KytyPS5 is an open-source PlayStation 5 translation layer for Windows and Linux, with experimental macOS support. Its renderer targets Vulkan, and the project remains under active development, so compatibility, stability and rendering behavior can vary between builds.
What to expect when using KytyPS5
KytyPS5 gives Windows and Linux the project's primary testing focus, while macOS support is experimental. It can be used with legally obtained game directories, ELF files and ZArchive game dumps. ZArchive content can be mounted and streamed without being extracted first. The launcher searches configured folders recursively for recognized game directories and archives.
The project does not distribute games or copyrighted system software. KytyPS5 is not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or PlayStation. Its README also recommends updating graphics drivers before reporting rendering problems.
