A major update for the enhanced CTR port

Crash Team Racing: High Octane version 1.4 was published on September 14, 2026, with new customization options, time-trial tools and fixes for its Windows and PSVita versions. The project is a sourceport of Crash Team Racing for PSVita, PC and web browsers, with features including widescreen rendering, 60 FPS support, Ghost Replay and online leaderboards.

The release includes a Windows build and a PSVita VPK. The README also identifies a browser version of the project, while this update separates several changes by platform.

Custom characters and more control over races

Version 1.4 adds support for custom characters, along with an option to let enemy drivers use them in Arcade Single and Cup races. Arcade races can now use any lap count from one to nine, giving players more control over the length of individual races and cups. Enemy AI can also select unlockable characters, including N. Oxide.

All gameplay cheat codes have been moved into a dedicated Options submenu. Cheats now remain enabled between sessions, but using any gameplay cheat disables ghost and record saving in Time Trial and Relic Race modes.

Ghosts and time trials get new tools

Players can now save ghosts from the online leaderboard locally and challenge ghosts directly from the Ghost Replay end screen. Time Trials also show personal bests for both one-lap and three-lap comparisons, while the current-lap display changes color according to how close the run is to that personal best.

Tiger Temple Alternative joins the map pool for Relic Race and Time Trial. The powerslide bar now changes color progressively rather than using only two sections, and the speedometer receives a scale correction.

Platform-specific improvements and 60 FPS fixes

On PSVita, controls now follow a DualShock-style scheme with true analog support. The release also improves performance in Tiger Temple by optimizing the statues’ flame effects. On PC, users can disable dithering, and a fix prevents some controllers, including DualSense controllers, from being detected as two separate controllers.

The update corrects numerous animation-speed problems at 60 FPS and adjusts 60 FPS physics to more closely match the 30 FPS mode. The notes specifically mention a fix for the R in Hot Sky Airway’s CTR Challenge being impossible to reach. Additional fixes address stale menu text after AdHoc matches, a broken mask-grab animation in Hot Air Skyway, language-specific menu placement, menu shadows and other presentation issues.
