Bachata S4+ 0.2.2 arrives for ARM64 Android
Bachata S4+ version 0.2.2 is available as an Android APK for ARM64 devices. It is an experimental PlayStation 4 emulation project focused on Android hardware, with ongoing work covering compatibility, graphics, controller input and execution backends.
The build was published on September 20, 2026, as Bachata-S4-Plus-v0.2.2.apk. Bachata S4+ is an independent community project rather than an official Bachata S4 release, and it is not endorsed or maintained by the original Bachata S4 developers.
God of War 3 Remastered receives targeted fixes
The update includes new patches for God of War 3 Remastered and fixes lighting in the game. These are game-specific changes rather than universal compatibility claims, which is important for an emulator where a workaround for one title may not apply to other software.
The release notes do not provide detailed compatibility results, frame-rate figures or a complete list of the patch behavior. The practical effect may therefore vary with the Android device, graphics driver, emulator configuration and game version.
Bachata S4+ remains highly experimental. Its documentation notes that a game may boot, reach gameplay or display improved graphics without being fully playable from start to finish. Crashes, freezes, rendering problems, audio issues and input faults can still vary between devices and builds.
Adreno Turbo adds a new option
Version 0.2.2 adds an Adreno Turbo option. The release notes do not specify which devices or games benefit most from it, so users should treat it as an experimental configuration choice rather than a guaranteed performance setting for every title.
The project’s broader graphics work includes Vulkan compatibility, GPU synchronization, buffer handling, shader behavior and driver-specific workarounds. The new option forms part of that wider effort to improve graphics behavior on ARM64 Android devices.
Performance can differ substantially between system-on-chip models, GPUs, Android versions, graphics drivers, device manufacturers and thermal conditions. A setting that helps one title or device may not produce the same result elsewhere.
Controls can now be edited
The update adds an option to edit controls, giving users more flexibility when configuring input for different games and Android setups.
Bachata S4+ supports physical controllers and touch controls as part of its controller-focused interface work. Version 0.2.2 credits Ver40 for the control-editing contribution. The release notes do not list the available mapping fields or explain whether every input type can be customized, so the exact scope depends on the editor included in the build.
Readback settings change for some games
Bachata S4+ now uses Readback and Readback Linear Images as the default settings for some games that require them. These settings affect image readback behavior within the emulator’s graphics path and may be needed by particular titles.
Applying the defaults to affected games can reduce the need for users to configure them manually. The release notes do not name every affected title or explain whether the settings are selected globally or through game-specific profiles, so this change should be understood as applying only to games identified by the project as needing them.
Performance and stability improvements
The 0.2.2 notes also report general performance and stability improvements. No benchmark figures, supported-device list or individual crash fixes are provided, so the release does not establish a measured gain across all games or hardware.
Alongside the Adreno Turbo option, control editor and game-specific graphics changes, the update expands the build’s configuration and compatibility work without changing its experimental status. Bachata S4+ supports FEX experimentation and Box64-related development for running x86 and x86-64 software on ARM64 devices, but the release notes do not identify a backend-specific change in this version.
What to expect from Bachata S4+
Bachata S4+ is built around independent modifications to historical Android binary releases of Bachata S4. Its documented areas of work include per-game configuration, controller support, Vulkan compatibility, memory behavior, runtime experimentation and diagnostic tools. Compatibility can change between releases, and results may differ according to the device, Android version, graphics driver, selected execution backend and game version.
The emulator does not include PlayStation 4 games, firmware, system files, decryption keys or other copyrighted console content. Users must provide legally obtained software and other required content themselves. Bachata S4+ is intended for experimental emulation, interoperability and compatibility research, and is not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or the upstream projects referenced in its documentation.
