ARMSX3 1.1 targets several emulation problems
ARMSX3 1.1 is an Android emulator for PlayStation 3 software, based on RPCS3. Released on October 10, 2026, this update focuses on game stability, graphics corrections, display handling, and support for patches that add code to games.
The release is available as four Android packages: three armv8.2 variants targeting SDK levels 30, 33, and 35, plus a legacy armv8.1 package targeting SDK 30. The release information does not provide further guidance for choosing between them.
Splatterhouse no longer crashes during a phase
The update fixes a crash in Splatterhouse that occurred a few seconds after entering a phase. The patching changes also address a broader problem in which patches that add new code to a game could crash ARMSX3.
For Splatterhouse, the practical result is that gameplay can continue past the point where the earlier build stopped. The release notes do not identify a particular phase or make broader compatibility claims beyond this correction.
LEGO Harry Potter receives a video-memory fix
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 no longer locks up during large loading operations. The earlier failure left the picture frozen while sound continued, rather than closing the application outright.
The problem occurred because video memory remained reserved after older streaming buffers were replaced. ARMSX3 now releases that memory immediately, allowing new buffers to use the available space. The same change may also help other games that freeze with a stuck image and continuing audio for the same reason, although no additional affected titles are named.
Two graphics corrections come from upstream RPCS3
ARMSX3 1.1 incorporates two upstream RPCS3 fixes. Armored Core: Verdict Day no longer displays the reported flickering blue squares, with the change credited to Yahfz.
Gran Turismo 6 also receives a rendering correction: the rear-view mirror is no longer corrupted in versions up to 1.05. The documented version range does not establish the same result for later game versions.
Lower display resolutions avoid repeated screen rebuilding
The Display Resolution setting now behaves more efficiently when it is set below the Android device’s screen resolution. Earlier builds could rebuild the screen every frame in this situation, potentially reducing frame rates.
ARMSX3 now avoids that repeated work. This is a rendering-path correction rather than a stated increase to a particular frame rate, so no quantified performance result is provided. The benefit should be most relevant to users who deliberately render below their device’s native display resolution.
Android emulator context and package availability
ARMSX3 uses the latest RPCS3 upstream code, including recent ARM64 improvements, and provides ARM64 Android builds. It emulates the PlayStation 3; the Android phone or tablet is the host platform, not the emulated console.
Running ARMSX3 requires PlayStation 3 firmware, which is not included with the project. The available downloads are Android APKs rather than software intended for installation on a modified PlayStation 3.
The package names identify armv8.2 and legacy armv8.1 builds, along with their Android SDK targets, but do not state which individual devices are compatible.
What this release changes
The most substantial changes in ARMSX3 1.1 are targeted fixes rather than a broad feature expansion. Splatterhouse benefits from corrected support for code-adding patches, while LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 receives a memory-management fix for large loads. The display change removes unnecessary per-frame screen rebuilding, and the upstream corrections clean up two game-specific rendering issues.
The release notes cover version 1.1 only and do not document an update procedure, configuration migration, save-data changes, or a general list of newly supported games.
