ARMSX3 1.0.7 is available for Android

ARMSX3 1.0.7 was released on October 7, 2026, with four Android APK variants listed for download: armv8.2 builds targeting SDK 30, 33 and 35, plus a legacy armv8.1 build targeting SDK 30. The project is based on RPCS3, the PlayStation 3 emulator. Running it requires PlayStation 3 system firmware, which is not included with the application.

The update combines Android-specific improvements with fixes from upstream RPCS3. Its most significant performance change targets ARM index-buffer preparation, while several emulation fixes address crashes, incorrect rendering, incomplete audio and video playback, networking stalls and save-state corruption.

Faster index-buffer uploads on ARM

New NEON code reduces the time ARMSX3 spends preparing index buffers by up to ten times, according to the release notes. This work is particularly relevant to games that submit substantial amounts of geometry, and the notes specifically identify Demon's Souls as an example where the change can help framerate.

The improvement reduces CPU-side preparation overhead rather than promising a universal performance gain. Its practical effect will depend on the game, device and renderer, but the change targets time spent on this part of the graphics workload on ARM devices.

Blades of Time and other games avoid recurring crashes

Blades of Time no longer freezes on every launch after its first run. The update also fixes several timing-related freezes and startup failures by making the emulated RSX report command-buffer progress in the same way as a PlayStation 3. Games use that progress to schedule their own work.

The change addresses random freezes in Resistance 2 and the Ratchet & Clank games, crashes during LittleBigPlanet's water level, a title-screen crash in Ridge Racer Unbounded and boot crashes in both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows games. These are targeted compatibility fixes rather than a general guarantee that every title will run without issues.

Graphics fixes improve several PS3 titles

Gran Turismo 5 receives multiple rendering corrections. Car shadows and windshields should appear correctly, car windows should no longer flash white, and the Indy and NASCAR events now draw correctly when MSAA is enabled.

Flower can now render the full grass field when a draw contains more than 65,536 vertices. Previously, that type of draw repeated its beginning instead of displaying the remaining geometry.

Additional renderer fixes correct colour-write state that could remain enabled after a game disabled it, occlusion results read from the wrong query, skipped single-point draws and a blit operation that could trigger a “Dead FIFO” crash. The OpenGL renderer also receives corrections for stencil operations, polygon offset, depth clears and 16-bit 5551 readbacks.

Other graphics-related changes preserve vertex attributes when vertex programs read textures, make multithreaded RSX checks inspect the correct memory range for generated indices and speed up vertex-program analysis. Texture caching and GPU memory mapping also receive smaller fixes.

Video, music and game data handling are more reliable

More in-game video streams can now decode correctly, including streams that begin without a sequence header or reuse their buffers. Audio tracks played from files no longer lose their final five to 20 seconds when they use a 44.1 kHz sample rate.

Game data size checks now inspect the correct folder. The release notes call out Rock Band 2's song-import process as a user of this fix. A separate change prevents a crash when games are launched from the /app_home/ location.

Save states created while a folder is open now restore that folder's contents correctly instead of scrambling them. Japanese on-screen keyboard suggestions also display the intended text.

More dependable RPCN sessions

Online play through RPCN receives several networking fixes. A peer-to-peer connection should no longer remain permanently stalled after a packet is lost twice, a malformed packet can no longer hang networking, and a peer that has timed out should not leave a worker thread spinning indefinitely.

The release also supplies the correct “no microphone” response to games that check for microphone hardware and reduces some overhead in games using raw SPU threads. Together with the rendering and stability changes, these smaller corrections address failures caused by unusual game behaviour or emulated hardware state.

Android setup works without Google services

Choosing a folder now works on devices that do not provide Google's system folder picker. On hardware such as HarmonyOS tablets, ARMSX3 opens its own folder browser instead, allowing folder selection to continue without that system component.

The update also changes the source used by the Artemis cheat download feature. It now uses the Android edition of the Artemis Patch Collection published for ARMSX3.
