Latest nightly is a development release
ARMSX1 nightly-20260909.6 was published on September 9, 2026, at 12:54:09 UTC as a prerelease development build. The available package is an Android arm64-v8a APK measuring approximately 71.3 MB. It is not a stable release.
The preceding included nightly, nightly-20260908.5, was published on September 8, 2026. Both builds point to the same source revision, and their notes only identify them as automated nightly builds. No specific fixes, performance changes, compatibility updates, or other user-facing changes are documented for this update.
PlayStation emulation and supported formats
ARMSX1 is a PlayStation emulator fork with an FSUI shell and SDL2-hosted frontends. Its documented emulation components include the CPU, DMA, GPU, SPU, MDEC, GTE, timers, CD-ROM loading, memory cards, BIOS selection, and PS-X EXE booting. The interface also supports screenshots, logging controls, VSync, fast forward, and configuration through the FSUI settings shell.
The emulator supports BIN/CUE images, single-track BIN files, ISO, CHD, and ZIP archives containing supported game images and their companion files. CHD support includes mixed-mode metadata, pregaps and postgaps, audio byte order, and Q subchannel data.
CPU and graphics options
The cached CPU engine is enabled by default, while an interpreter remains available as a reference path for diagnostics. Graphics use an accurate software PlayStation rasterizer. An optional accelerated SDL presentation mode uploads changed VRAM scanlines to an SDL texture without replacing the emulated rasterization, and the project says it falls back to software presentation when an accelerated SDL renderer is unavailable.
Save states, netplay, and texture packs are not implemented according to the project documentation.
