A focused bug-fix update for ARMSX1

ARMSX1 0.3.6 was published on October 16, 2026, as a small maintenance release. The available Android package is named ARMSX1-0.3.6.apk. Its changes focus on correcting front-end, library and disc-loading problems rather than introducing a broad new emulation feature set.

ARMSX1 is a PlayStation emulator with an FSUI settings shell and SDL2-hosted frontends. It supports BIN/CUE, single-track BIN, ISO and CHD disc images, plus ZIP archives containing supported game images and companion files. The project also includes memory-card handling, BIOS selection, screenshots, fast forward, VSync controls and configurable CPU and display options.

Updater and profile fixes

The release fixes a problem that prevented the online updater from finding the latest released updates. This should make update discovery more reliable when checking for newer versions.

Profiles can now be saved over an existing profile. Users can therefore revise a saved profile without needing to create a separate one.

More reliable disc and library handling

ARMSX1 0.3.6 fixes a crash that occurred when an SBI file was loaded with its matching CHD image. This is relevant to disc setups that use those files together.

The RetroAchievements library list has also been fixed. The release notes do not specify the exact display or loading problem, but the correction targets that library view.

Artwork retrieval has been corrected as well. The notes indicate that the application previously failed to fetch downloaded media correctly.

Optional L1 and R1 virtual triggers

The on-screen gamepad gains virtual L1 and R1 triggers positioned closer to the existing L2 and R2 controls. The feature is disabled by default.

To enable it, open Settings, choose Gamepad, and then open On-screen controls.

Performance overlay correction

The performance overlay now displays on devices where it previously failed to appear. The release notes do not identify the affected devices or provide performance measurements, but the fix restores the overlay in those cases.

Emulation and host-platform context

ARMSX1 uses an accurate software PlayStation rasterizer and keeps 16-bit PlayStation VRAM authoritative. SDL software rendering is the default presentation mode, while SDL-accelerated rendering is available as an option. The accelerated mode uploads changed VRAM scanlines to an SDL texture rather than replacing PlayStation rasterization with host-side triangles.

The emulator offers cached and interpreter CPU engines. Cached execution is the default, while the interpreter remains available as a reference and diagnostic path. These are project capabilities rather than changes announced for version 0.3.6; this release is primarily a usability and stability update around the existing emulator.

ARMSX1 targets desktop systems, Android, iOS, UWP, WebAssembly and PSVita, with desktop and Android identified as its main day-to-day platforms. Version 0.3.6 includes an Android APK, while the release notes do not list separate package details for every supported host.
