About this set
2026 Pro Set Metal Football from Leaf references the 1989 and 1990 Pro Set designs, Mini versions, new themes and inserts, die cuts, acetate signature cards, randomly inserted on-card signatures, and the New Kid In Town insert. The product text also ties those retro layouts to top young stars and describes the signed cards as featuring legends of the gridiron past and future.
Retro design with a modern player mix
The central design references are the 1989 and 1990 Pro Set layouts, each tied to top young stars and each also mentioned in Mini form. Those two retro looks are the clearest visual anchors in the release, and they give the product more than one design lane without turning it into a single-template set.
The release also combines those retro references with other named insert and autograph elements. That mix keeps the product focused on Pro Set styling while still including additional card types beyond the base design references.
Insert themes and collecting variety
The source points to new themes and inserts featuring tomorrow's legends and yesterday's heroes. That wording frames the set as a mix of eras, with the retro Pro Set designs sitting alongside a broader insert concept rather than replacing it.
New Kid In Town is another named insert. It highlights incoming freshmen and current college stars making a mark in a new college town, which gives the release a separate college-focused theme distinct from the 1989 and 1990 Pro Set design references.
The details also mention beautifully designed die cuts, but they do not identify specific subjects, checklist structure, or any other narrower category. For that reason, the confirmed point is the presence of die-cut cards, not a more detailed breakdown of how they are used.
Autographs and acetate cards
Leaf also mentions beautifully designed acetate signature cards featuring legends of the gridiron past and future. That gives the signed-card side of the release a clear visual identity, with the wording linking the autograph content to both historic and forward-looking football names.
Randomly inserted on-card signatures are also part of the confirmed mix. This separates a second signed-card element from the acetate signature cards and keeps the autograph chase tied directly to the card itself.
The product text does not define a deeper relationship between those signed-card mentions, so it is best to treat them as distinct named features rather than assume a more specific insert structure.
Practical collecting choices
A practical way to approach 2026 Pro Set Metal Football is to decide whether the retro design references, the named inserts, or the autograph content matter most to you. The set offers several confirmed lanes, so collectors do not need to treat it as one single chase.
If you like visual comparisons, the 1989 and 1990 Pro Set designs and their Mini versions are the clearest checkpoints. If you prefer a theme-driven lane, New Kid In Town stands out on its own. If you prefer signatures, the acetate signature cards and the randomly inserted on-card signatures are the most direct confirmed autograph elements.
Overall, the release leans on nostalgia, current college names, and presentation-focused card styles. That combination gives it a varied collecting profile without requiring collectors to read more into the product than the confirmed details support.
