About this set
2024 Panini Instant Rated Rookie Retro WNBA Basketball is an online-exclusive, print-to-order release built around a 14-card checklist of prominent first-year names from the 2024 WNBA class. The design borrows from 1984 Donruss Baseball Rated Rookies, while the set’s key appeal is simple: collecting a focused rookie snapshot centered on Caitlin Clark and several other first-year standouts.
Set identity and design
This Panini Instant release keeps the checklist tight and centered on rookies, with 14 cards in the set. The Retro styling draws from the Rated Rookies look associated with 1984 Donruss Baseball, so the appeal is as much about the visual callback as it is about the players. Caitlin Clark headlines the group, with Angel Reese, Aaliyah Edwards, Rickea Jackson, and Cameron Brink also included among the named cards in the set.
How collectors can approach it
Because it is an open-ended print-run, the natural collecting choice is less about chasing fixed scarcity and more about deciding how complete you want the checklist to be. Some collectors may focus on a single headliner, while others may try to assemble the full 14-card run as a compact rookie project. Since the release is centered on a specific season’s first-year class, it works best as a snapshot of that group rather than a broad WNBA overview.
