About the movie
Characters: Winifred Notty (a governess), the children of Ensor House, the household staff and the estate owners; situation: in 1858 Winifred is hired to teach the children manners and family history while concealing psychopathic tendencies; central conflict: staff members begin disappearing and the owners grow suspicious of her.
In Victorian England Winifred arrives at the gothic Ensor House to educate the children and maintain the family’s legacy, but she hides a dangerous inner life. As servants vanish, the household’s uneasy peace fractures and the owners begin to suspect their new governess.
