About the movie
The principal figures are Nadira (who assumes the Hindu name Renuka), Devika, Devika’s authoritarian mother, and the police pursuing Nadira; Nadira has fled a Delhi brothel after fatally stabbing a police superintendent. She hides in a northern Indian community of sex workers and forms a forbidden romantic bond with Devika, a girl destined by tradition for prostitution. Defying her mother and the entrenched system, Devika joins Renuka on a dangerous flight through violence as they try to escape the law and seek freedom.
