About the movie
Characters: TJ Ballantyne (Dave Turner), the village residents, and newly arrived Syrian refugees. The Old Oak is the last pub and only remaining public meeting place in a once-thriving mining community that has endured thirty years of decline. Landlord TJ hangs on to the pub by his fingertips, trying to keep it open as the village’s sole shared space. His predicament deepens when refugees are placed in the village without notice and the pub becomes contested territory.
