About the movie
Characters: three increasingly desperate detectives, leading man Song Kang Ho, and director Bong Joon Ho. Situation: in 1980s South Korea a sadistic serial rapist and murderer is terrorizing a small province and prompts a prolonged police hunt. Central conflict: the detectives struggle to decipher the violent mind of the killer and solve the case. The film is a true-story police thriller, the first major collaboration between Bong and Song, and was noted again seventeen years after its initial release and a year after the real culprit was identified.
