About the movie
Characters: Sweet Potato, his unseen "boss", his mother, his friend Maozi and Seven. Situation: Sweet Potato has been content running a meagre seaside business after his release from prison. Central conflict: figures from his past reappear and gradually seize control of his new life, threatening his future. After his mother thrusts debts on him and Maozi and the never-met boss re-enter his life, only Seven provides slight relief; finally Sweet Potato is granted a meeting with the boss at the smoggy, oppressive seaside.
