About the movie
Characters: 12-year-old George, the monks of a hospice on the Great St. Bernard Pass, and a starving St. Bernard puppy he names Barry. Situation: George becomes stranded on the high mountain pass and adapts to cold weather, hard work and isolation while living with the monks. He secretly rescues and raises the puppy. Central conflict: when authorities threaten to take Barry away, George must demonstrate that his conscience matters more than the hospice rules.
