About the movie
In a quiet English commuter town a former parish church is demolished to make way for an apartment block, and most locals pass the rubble without concern. Syrian refugee Sami Shehadi, disturbed by the disregard for the site’s history, teams up with Bryony, a young librarian, to investigate its remarkable origins. They steal the church bell in protest, then confront police, media attention and their own personal struggles as they try to make the bell ring again.
